When my father Robert Joseph Heinzen returned from his service in World War II, he married a Wilmette girl, Elizabeth Spies, whose family also emigrated from Trier Germany in the mid 1800's. Trained in property management, he became a real estate appraiser and broker and also worked for years in mortgage banking. He built two homes in Wilmette for his personal residences. Robert Heinzen achieved the MAI (Member Appraisal Institute) designation from the Appraisal Institute and although retired, he was awarded the distinction of Lifetime Member. I joined with my father in his appraisal business and learned what created value in our community. That knowledge has translated into how to build homes that will maximize and retain value over time.
